My Favorite BNI Story
I heard this one from someone as I was exploring which BNI chapter to join. A residential painter joined his local BNI chapter and sat in the same seat every week. After months of showing up, giving referrals, and building trust, he received a simple referral:
“Hey, a homeowner I know needs a few rooms repainted — thought of you.”
He followed through, did a great job, and thanked the member.
But that homeowner turned out to be a developer who loved his work — and began hiring him for entire apartment buildings. Then referred him to other developers. Over five years, this led to more than $1 million in business — all traced back to that one seat at BNI and that one referral.
